Boise Open Studios Small Works Exhibition

This exhibition includes the work of approximately 50 members of the Boise Open Studios organization (BOSCO). Each artist has selected a small work to exhibit. Watercolors, oil and acrylic paintings, photography, ceramics, fiber and other sculptural media will be shown. . The show previews the Open Studios weekend , October 12-14, when BOSCO members will be showing their work in studios around the Boise area. NATURE Through the Looking Glass

Glass artist, Laura Johnson, shares her visions of nature in her works of glass on display at Art Source Gallery throughout the month of August.

Johnson’s fused glass techniques have evolved throughout the years but her love of nature is still the subject she chooses to capture in her glass pieces. Best known for her kiln-formed vibrant glass poppy bowls and her touchable fall and winter aspen scenes, artist Laura Johnson canvases her scenes in vibrant colors of glass.

Join the fun on August 2^nd for her opening reception during First Thursday, 5 to 9pm. Musical guest will be acoustic guitarist Wayne White. Indian Creek Winery will be onsite providing their fine selection of wines along with snacks provided by Art Source.

Elegant Antiquity: Champlevé Metal Jewelry

Nancy Sather-Vogel - Metal Artist

Nancy combines Champlevé, an ancient enameling technique, with images from books from 1700-1800 which the British Library has scanned, encouraging artists to preserve old art.

To add color, troughs or cells are carved, etched, or cast into the surface, filled with vitreous enamel, and fired until the enamel fuses. After polishing, uncarved portions of the original surface remain visible as a frame for enamel designs.

Art Source Gallery gives back to the community with an annual opportunity for the creative minds of our local high school students to display and sell their aspiring and innovative works of art. These striving artists make the journey from artistic concept to realization of having their finished pieces professionally displayed. Guidance for artists includes how to photograph artwork, apply for juried shows and prepare for exhibitions. Featured works include 2 dimensional, 3 dimensional and portfolios of students body of artworks.

This show runs February 1st through February 24th. Our opening reception will be FIRST THURSDAY, February 1, 2018 from 5 to 9 p. m at 1015 Main Street. An awards presentation will be given to the students at 6:30. Musical artist will be Emily Tipton. Wines will be provided by Indian Creek Wine and hors d' oeuvres by Art Source Gallery
