The underlying pattern in this native American inspired design is created through a crackle process with the turquoise and white glass; the black, red and gold design elements are added for further interest. An interesting thing has happened in the firing of this piece, which is that a chemical reaction happened! The turquoise glass contains copper, and the creamy white contains sulphur, and these elements have interacted to cause the dark halo to form around each white shape, which you can see in the closeup photo. The piece has been carefully fired and annealed for strength, it is food safe, and is numbered and hand signed by the artist.
