James is an artist based in Boise, Idaho. He loves to paint still lifes, and landscapes inspired by the beautiful rivers, mountains, and desert within and around the city.

James worked for many years in iron, doing artisanal blacksmithing in his backyard forge. After decades of exploring different mediums, he committed to oil when he put down his hammers and decided to get serious about painting.

In the studio he produces the still lifes which he considers the core of his work, and completes or reworks the landscapes which he starts outdoors. Some of his happiest moments are those he spends painting on the banks of the Boise river, working with the magnificent scenery of Idaho.
