Norma Penchansky-Glasser
The aim of Norma Penchansky-Glasser in making sculpture, drawings, and artist’s books is to capture motion, to freeze a moment in time. The works she produces seem to be continually conversing and overlapping.
Norma starts with an idea, then collects images and information, and finally realizes the completed work. The drawings are inspired by the line, gesture, and movement of figures in motion. She draws with watercolor crayon and washes on watercolor paper. She constructs books by mono-printing the paper, and choosing and collaging images depicting the message she wishes to convey in a format that allows a sense of kinetic energy. The sculptures, also inspired by the figure in motion, are first sculpted in water base clay and using the lost wax process cast in bronze.
