Lisa Bower

Oil Painter

My inspiration for painting comes from attempting to make the object on canvas look as realistic as possible.  I’m an oil painter and oils, for me, give me that ability to layer on color in thin layers (like a watercolor wash).  Each layer brings more enhancement and depth to the painting.  Most of my training has come with experimentation, but I did have very wonderful instructors, Jordan Pope and Lew Innocenti, at the start to guide me on my journey.

I have exhibited my art around the Pacific Northwest: at the Art Source Gallery (Boise, ID), Boise State University, Western Idaho State Fair, Puyallup State Fair, Ann Adrienne Gallery in Federal Way, WA, the Artists Gallery of Seattle in Seattle, WA, Starbuck Coffee House, Gig Harbor Arts and Crafts fair, a solo showing at the Performing Arts Theater in Renton, WA.

In art competitions, I've taken home several awards. In 2016, I received Best Oil Painting at the Western Idaho State Fair.   In the International competitions at the Electronic Data Systems (EDS) art show,  I received several 1st place and a couple of honorable mentions.

Most of my compositions come from my own photos. Being an outdoor enthusiast, several of my paintings are based on my travels to various parts of the world. Always looking for adventure, my eye and camera are poised to capture an instance that can be transformed into a special moment on canvas.
