I began painting by chance. While living in Alaska, an artist friend encouraged me to expirament with oils. So began an exiting journey that I have traveled happily. While I prefer watercolors, I have recently begun working with acrylics and gouche. I had no formal training but I have taken and will continue to take as many workshops as possible. I have been fortunate to have learned from such notable artists as Edgar Whitney, Marshal Joyce, Mel Sabin, Linda Doll, Judy Morris, Christopher Schnick, Janet Walsh, Caroline Buchanan and others. Everyone has seen something - a landscape, flower, person, or animal - that for some reason captures the imagination or emotions. Often the wish arises to somehow capture this special moment and share it with others. Painting is the medium with which I attempt to do this. And the more I paint, the more I realize that the beauty and the joy - not to mention the frustration - lies in the effort and in the constant hope that I can capture more and more of these moments. |
