I have always loved wood and stone in its natural state they draw me to carve them and change them into something from myself. I fall in love with each work, nothing is more satisfying than to look at a piece of stone or a slab of wood and see what it should become. Then take that stone or wood and chip or peel away what ever, in my minds eye, doesn’t belong. Working stone and wood is labor intensive, the subtractive process is unforgiving, and it takes a lot of patience but I feel the end results are well worth it.
I have always been drawn to art from my earliest memories, drawing inspiration from the forms that surrounded my home town, the small Colorado mountain community of Buena Vista, and my love of Mythology. I also have found inspiration in the works of Auguste Rodin, Maxfield Parish, Alphonse Mucha, Tillman Reimenschnider, Gustav Klimt, Salvador Dali, and many of the artists of the Arts and crafts movement and their roots in the classical, Viking and gothic periods.

My early passion for art was recognized and nurtured by my mentor and teacher Toni Evans. Through Toni, as well as the greater and thriving arts community in my home town, I was exposed to a wide variety of media in which to express myself. I majored in Fine Arts at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley Co. for 2 years until I married and moved to Idaho.

Necessities of life and realities of children and family interjected, and I set aside producing art full time for a while.
I couldn’t give up my connection with art, and so I sought employment and gained experience in the Picture framing trade. I continued to create and hone my skills as an artist with practice and study .I began taking classes in wood carving, attending stone sculpting symposiums and began to acquire the tools of my trade.

It was during this period that my passion for sculpture emerged to the vanguard.
In 2004 the opportunity came about to balance my life, family, and art and I began to sculpt full time.

It has been my privilege to design and create beautiful things in wood and stone ever since.
I now live and work in Idaho, but travel at every chance. Especially to the mountains that are my roots. I have many projects in the future and am planning a trip to Italy to further experience and research my latest love, Marble sculpture.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
